Central Library

Mission

The Central Library, MAPIMS was established in the year 2007 at the erstwhile Medical college Buildings at Melmaruvathur. The central Library centralized air-conditioned building and continued functioning from January 2007.

It is a global truth that the library is the temple of knowledge and the richest source of skill. Our central library at Medical College houses a treasure trove of knowledge and resources. We cater to the aspirants of different categories of medical professionals by offering them all they need for a better and brighter future.

Resources

  • Print material
    • Books: The Library has a good collection of 15735 books on medical and allied health sciences.
    • Journals: The library subscribes to 56 International Journals and 70 National Journals.
    • Back volumes: The library has 1517 Indian and Foreign bound volumes of journals.
    • Thesis: We have 75 thesis.
  • Non–print material we have 829 CD/DVD collections in our library.

DELNET Developing Library Networks

DELNET-Developing Library Network, New Delhi is a major resource sharing library Network in India connecting more than 8800 institutions in 28 States and 6 Union Territories in India and few other countries comprising of Universities, Colleges, R&D organisations, medical hospitals, etc. DELNET is devoted to the Modernisation & Networking of Libraries. It was registered as a Society on June 30, 1992. It is located in Jawaharlal Nehru University Campus, New Delhi. “Networking Libraries, Sharing and Spreading Knowledge” remains the prime motto of DELNET with which it is working relentlessly for past more than 30 years. DELNET has received the prestigious IIPA Award for Excellence in Public Services on October 30, 2020 announced in the gracious presence of the Hon’ble Former Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu.

Automation (ILMS) Integrated Library Management Systems

The library is fully automated with in-house-developed software and barcode technology. An OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) has been created for easy search and two terminals are provided to facilitate access. Apart from the central library, each department has a separate departmental library, which contains 100–110 books.

Library Rules and Regulations

  • Students and staff are requested to carry their ID when they came to the library. They must show ID card, if asked by the library staff of security personnel.
  • Before entering the library, both staff and students are requested to register in the computer by the Gate Entry Monitoring System kept at the entrance of the library.
  • No one is allowed to bring any personnel items like bags, briefcases, personnel books/notebooks. Money purse, lab coats etc. Inside the library however paper and pen are allowed to enable to taking notes.
  • Sleeping conversation, discussion, loud voice is not allowed inside the library.
  • All the books and journals in the library are kept only for reference. They will not be issued to anyone.
  • After reading the books and journals, the students and faculty members are requested to replace then in the same place, where they were taken from.
  • Books, journals and magazines must be handled with care. Underlining, highlighting, marking and tearing of sheets from books is strictly prohibited and is punishable.
  • No refreshment is allowed inside the library.
  • The use of internet for the purpose of other then academic activities is banned.
  • The use of mobile phone, Tablet, laptop, I pad and head set inside the library premises is strictly prohibited.
  • Turn of the computer in e- library/internet lab accordingly after browse.
  • The library should be kept clean and tidy at all time.
  • Last but not the least, complete silence must be maintained within the library promises.
