The Department was started by 2008 with M.B.B.S course, now recognized for P.G also since 2020 . It also imparts medical training to the other courses like B.D.S, B.P.T, B.Sc. Nursing and Various Allied health Sciences (A.H.S) and also knowledge of basic anatomy with working skills further for 1st year Post graduate students from clinical side. Horizontal and vertical integrated teaching are being conducted periodically for the benefit of U.Gs as well as P.Gs.

The Department is equipped with spacious lecture hall and dissection hall (to impart adequate knowledge of human anatomy by the cadaveric dissection), a well equipped Histology lab with digital charts displayed on the wall and demonstration Halls as per NMC norms. A research lab with all the facilities for the use of undergraduates and post graduates is also available in the department.

The academic programme emphasizes continuous evaluation through daily assessments, logbook reviews, and periodic written and practical examinations. Research activities are being carried out both by U.Gs and P.Gs. Also journal clubs , museum visits and early exposure to clinical departments are being carried on. Regular feedback from students are obtained to implement necessary improvements and promoting a responsive educational environment.

Overall, the Department of Anatomy now under the leadership of Dr.M.Vijayalakshmi., M.S.( Anatomy)., D.G.O., is committed to creating a comprehensive and enriching educational environment that prepares future healthcare professionals while adhering to the highest standards set by the NMC.
