Dr. A. Momon Singh (Momon Chand) was born on 30th November 1953 at Khurai Sajor Leikai, Tinsid Road, Imphal-East, Manipur (India). He completed MBBS course from Regional Medical College (now renamed as Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal under Gauhati University in January 1979 and he completed MD (FSM) from Calcutta Medical College under Calcutta University in December 1984. He received Fellow of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine in 2008.
He joined Department of Forensic Medicine of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal as Demonstrator on 9th October 1980 and worked at different capacities and took VRS from the Service on 10th May 2006 as Professor & Head. Not only teaching undergraduate students, he was P. G. teacher, guide and examiner when he was in RIMS.
During his stay in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal he had the opportunity to work as (i) Ex-officio Police Surgeon-cum- Asst. Medico-legal Advisor to the Government of Manipur, (ii) Professor i/c Academic of RIMS, (iii) OSD (Planning) of RIMS, etc. He also had the opportunity to inspect some medical colleges as part time inspector of MCI.
He worked in different capacities for Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine and for different Journals. He has a good number of publications (Original, Review, Case reports, Editorial, etc).
He joined MAPIMS on 18th November 2008 as Professor & Head of Forensic Medicine Department and also worked as Vice-Principal from 16.09.2009 To 15.12.2013 and then as Dean (Academic) from 16.12.2013 to 25/9/2016.
He worked as Dean from 26/09/2016 and on 02/08/2018 he had been re-designated as Principal.
